Adobe download manager problem

I recently upgraded Mozilla Firefox and after that Adobe Reader wanted to be upgraded to. Somehow after I was done an annoying window kept popping up when Firefox started or I opened a new tab wanting to install flash (or something) again. To get rid of it I clicked on Tools, Add-Ons then Extensions and disabled Adobe Download Manager. That did the trick.
